Traditionally, the Japanese tattoo most parts of the
body, all the different motifs connected by the back-
ground.

Western style tattooing - where the different motifs
are often not connected to one another, not even by
a background, is relatively new to the Japanese.

They have created the term One Point Tattoo to de-
scribe Western style tattooing. Those tattoos are
not one piece, but "one point".
