Don Ed Hardy (Editor): Tattootime 2 - Tattoo Magic | |||||||||
Any serious collector absolutely must have all five issues of Hardy Mark's Tattootime series. "Tattootime 2: Tattoo Magic" has a sentimental value for me personally, since it was the second ever tattoo publication I bought... To this day, my favourite bit is probably the very interesting interview with Richard O. Tyler, who was an astrologer, tattooist and magician, am- ongst other things. Further chapters cover Christian tattooing (is it or is it not a "sin"?), the art of cover-ups, sacred calligraphy (in Sanskrit), tattooed Buddhist char- ms in Thailand, and dragon tattoo design. As in all Tattootime volumes, the photographs are very good, the "suggested further reading" sections at the end of each chapter a source for finding yet new ways to spend your money. (There simply is so much interesting stuff out there!) Ed Hardy's Tattoo City San Francisco still has copies of some of the Tattootime issues. They do in fact carry all Hardy Marks Publications, plus some other goodies. Tattootime 01 "New Tribalism" and Tattootime 04 "Life And Death Tattoos" are only available second hand; if you need help tracking them down, do cont- act me. |
