Don Ed Hardy (Editor): Tattootime 3 - Music & Sea Tattoos | |||||||||
Tattootime issue number three, one of the five that any serious tattoo books collector must have. Editor Ed Hardy pulled off another great issue with tons of fantastic photographs, the usual killer "su- ggested further reading" sections, and contributi- ons from interesting guest writers. The topics covered in "Music & Sea Tattoos": orig- ins of sea and water tattoos (by none other than Dan Thomé), sailors' tattoos (background and typ- ical motifs), photographic essays on mermaid and pirate tattoos, the traditional Rock Of Ages tattoo (historical background and execution by different tattooists), sea and water tattoos in Japan, the tattoo revolution amongst hip Japanese youngst- ers, Punk Rock tattoos, and music and tattoos in general. Plus an interview with the legendardy old-timer Pinky Yun, and profiles on Greg Irons, Doc Webb, Bob Roberts, and Leo Zulueta. Tattoo City San Francisco (owned by Don Ed Har- dy) still carries some of the Tattootime issues. Tattootime 01 "New Tribalism" and Tattootime 04 "Life And Death Tattoos" are only available sec- ond hand; if you need help tracking them down, do contact me. |
